Preliminary Types of Composition

At the college-level, students will be asked to create scholarly, academic writing that argues a point based on the world, perception, and ethics known as ARGUMENT writing.

Prior to reaching this level, of being able to evaluate and create arguments, students are exposed to narration, exposition, and description writing. These writing styles are simply practiced for what is to come when drafting an argument essay. Various aspects of narration, exposition, and description are used in argument writing. Therefore, if you have not developed these skills, your argument will tend to suffer in clarity, depth, and significance.
